Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum held another telephone conversation with her US counterpart, Donald Trump, to follow up on the bilateral agenda. During the call, both leaders agreed that security cooperation is progressing positively, following recent high-level meetings held in Washington by their respective security and prosecution teams.
In the area of ​​trade, Sheinbaum highlighted that the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) is progressing favorably. Although no final agreements have been made public, the Mexican government emphasized that there is mutual interest in strengthening rules of origin in various strategic sectors, beyond the automotive industry.

The Mexican head of state described the exchange as “very cordial,” noting that it was Trump who initiated contact two days prior. During the conversation, topics related to non-tariff barriers and the dynamism of supply chains were addressed, in an atmosphere of respect for national sovereignty and with the general understanding of the technical teams.
Sheinbaum also confirmed that she received an official invitation from Trump to visit the United States, although the date of the meeting has not yet been set. The president emphasized that the dialogue remains open, running parallel to the work of the ministries, which are addressing logistical issues such as customs crossings and environmental regulations.
A highlight of the call occurred when the Mexican president was able to greet the First Lady, Melania Trump, reinforcing the cordial tone of the diplomatic encounter. This rapprochement seeks to consolidate a stable relationship amidst current political complexities, always prioritizing the economic stability of the Mexican nation and its role in the North American bloc.
It was announced that the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, will provide further details on the progress of the trade negotiations in the coming days. Mexico thus reaffirms its commitment to ongoing dialogue to ensure that the world’s most important trade agreement continues to benefit national development without compromising political independence.
